Have you had enough waiting?

I think you know that Leslie (my wife) and I live just outside Nashville. Last night, John Mayer played a music festival in our little town. I didn’t go (I’m more of an indoor concert with a chair and air conditioning kind of guy—which, by the way, we will have for you in Orlando… IYKYK).

But it reminded me of one of his big songs: “Waiting on the World to Change.”

The chorus says:

Waiting on the world to change
It’s hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change…

Catchy tune. Terrible strategy. And honestly? I’m tired of waiting.

I created The Thing almost ten years ago for people who are done standing at a distance. For leaders who are done waiting to be picked. For those who've had enough of waiting for "them" to do it. For world-changers who know they’ve already been called.

And if the last few weeks of chaos have shown us anything, it’s this: the world doesn’t need more people waiting. It needs leaders to take action. It needs the creators to create. It requires those of us on mission to act!

That’s exactly what we’re doing in Orlando, November 14–16, 2025. The waiting stops now!

The Thing Orlando is where mission-driven leaders, creators, and entrepreneurs gather to:
🔎 Get clarity on their next move so they stop spinning in circles
🗺️ Gain real strategies from people who are building right now (not just talking theory)
🤝 Find community—a room of leaders who lift you higher instead of draining you
🚀 Leave with momentum—a plan you can start executing before you even fly home

You’ll hear from speakers who aren’t hiding in green rooms but sitting beside you. You’ll be surrounded by peers who understand what it’s like to build something out of nothing. And you’ll leave knowing you’re not just chasing a calling—you’re carrying out a mission that matters.

The Thing isn’t just a conference. It’s a launchpad. It’s not a retreat, it's a sending. And I believe you and your mission belong in the room.

Here's the biggest reality: someone is waiting on YOU. They are waiting on what you can do in your sleep to help them with what is keeping them up at night. I know they are tired of waiting.

So let me ask you plainly: Are you tired of waiting? If so—stop. Step in. Secure your seat today.

Because in less than two months from now, the leaders who will shape the future will be in Orlando. A seat is waiting on you, only if you take it. The only question is… will you be in the room?

See You in Orlando

I’m Terry Weaver — business coach and idea strategist who specializes in helping remarkable leaders navigate the galaxy of entrepreneurship. My biggest goal is to help YOU discover what you really want and help discover the map to head in the direction and arrive at the destination. You desire. It’s the age old Spice Girls question I ask all my clients:“ Tell me what you want, what you really really want.” Almost immediately after high school I became a full time speaker speaking to students in middle school, high school, and colleges. During that time I accidentally found myself in the music business helping artists navigate moving their dreams from their garage to selling out shows and topping the charts. Standing on stage in a packed arena things began to shift for me.

Three months ago, I was in the ICU, not sure what was ahead. I had just had an ambulance ride, which I still have no memory of. What I did know was that the event had started 9 years before, and was going on without me. I was supposed to be on stage, and instead I was fighting for my life. I was 100% dependent on my community to pull off the event I dreamed of, and the medical team to take care of me! I was living what I’ve been preaching for years. If you want to go fast, go alone, but if...

Leslie and I talking with the Big Cheese. It’s hard to believe it’s already February. It’s been just over two months since I was released from the hospital, and we’ve learned a lot since then. One of the biggest lessons is that healing from sepsis doesn’t follow a simple or fast timeline. Post-Sepsis Syndrome is real, and getting my body back to “normal” has taken far longer than we ever imagined. We spent most of January in Florida doing exactly what doctors recommended. Rest. Heal. Breathe....

Greetings from the frozen tundra that is Nashville. I’m back from sabbatical in Florida and we are currently on day 5 of being iced in. Based on the weather, we should have stayed a few days longer. I'm still healing and trying to get my strength and energy back. Some days I feel like I can run through a wall, and some days I feel like the wall ran through me. While we were gone, we spent time relaxing and dreaming about the next year. A few friends from the Thing community even joined us for...
