Celebrate with me.

I’m a little emotional today. On June 2, 2017, the first Thing began. I closed the day, and we had Lee Cockerell as a surprise guest—he was the VP of Operations for Walt Disney World. My friend and brand powerhouse Leigh Holt spoke as well. Since then, we’ve had Disney Legends, industry leaders, best-selling authors, circus performers, and world-renowned creators all take The Thing stage. All with one mission: to help remarkable leaders do their thing.

It’s wild to think that this year marks our ninth year. It’s even wilder to realize how hard it’s been. Because here’s the thing (I can’t help it)—dreams and callings aren’t easy. Loving them doesn’t make them easy. The easy part is getting people to pour into leaders. The hard part? Convincing people they’re worthy of their callings.

One of the first people I called was Lee Cockerell. I asked him to do a live interview for my podcast. He showed up. And that taught me something: only the ideas we act on have the chance to change the world. I don’t know how much world-changing I’ve done, but I do know this: I’ve seen The Thing change people’s worlds. And that has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

I’ve definitely shed a tear or two over it. There have been more than a few all-nighters along the way. But that’s how it works with the things that matter. I still believe this is some of the most important work I’ll ever do. There’s been plenty of reason to give up, but I’m committed to showing up for leaders who want to do their thing.

Next year, we’ll celebrate ten years of The Thing. And I truly believe the best is yet to come. I know some of you have seen me posting about this event for years and have said, “One of these days, I’ll go to that.” So, how about making this your day one and stop waiting on one day?

I’m beyond grateful for every attendee, every speaker, and for my wife Leslie, who’s been all in on serving leaders, even when it doesn’t make business sense.

In four weeks, we’ll do it again—this time in Nashville. It will be the 15th time we’ve gathered. We’ve never missed a year (even the year we had to do it in a top-secret location). And in November, we’ll gather again in Orlando.

From now until Friday night, use the code WEKEEPGOING25 to save 25% off your ticket to join us in Nashville.

I hope to see you there at the end of the month. Because for me, the first person I had to convince to pick themselves and do it… was me. So here I am, one more time, asking: Are you willing to choose yourself, even when no one else will?

I’m Terry Weaver — business coach and idea strategist who specializes in helping remarkable leaders navigate the galaxy of entrepreneurship. My biggest goal is to help YOU discover what you really want and help discover the map to head in the direction and arrive at the destination. You desire. It’s the age old Spice Girls question I ask all my clients:“ Tell me what you want, what you really really want.” Almost immediately after high school I became a full time speaker speaking to students in middle school, high school, and colleges. During that time I accidentally found myself in the music business helping artists navigate moving their dreams from their garage to selling out shows and topping the charts. Standing on stage in a packed arena things began to shift for me.

Let’s be real — these are wild times to be building anything. Algorithms flip every few weeks. What worked in marketing six months ago? Already outdated. AI is rewriting everything we thought we knew about marketing and communication. But here’s the truth, no one’s saying loud enough: AI can’t replicate YOU. Not your story. Not your scars. Not your weird, wonderful wiring. And that’s what this year’s Thing Orlando is all about —YOU: The Power of Being Human. Because the secret to discovering...

He's waiting on the world to change

I think you know that Leslie (my wife) and I live just outside Nashville. Last night, John Mayer played a music festival in our little town. I didn’t go (I’m more of an indoor concert with a chair and air conditioning kind of guy—which, by the way, we will have for you in Orlando… IYKYK). But it reminded me of one of his big songs: “Waiting on the World to Change.” The chorus says: Waiting on the world to change It’s hard to beat the system When we’re standing at a distance So we keep waiting...

We’re one week out from The Thing Nashville—and I want to speak to the tension a lot of us are feeling right now. The world feels uncertain. Heavy. Distracting. There’s fear in the headlines, noise in our feeds, and pressure to stay quiet, play it safe, or just survive. But you weren’t made to shrink back. You weren’t wired to sit this one out.You were called to create. To lead. To build something that actually matters. And if that’s stirring something in you, I want you in the room with us....
